TODAY’S QUESTION
Today’s Question: “Do you have any ideas of how to get past overthinking and anxiety so I can actually prepare for my interviews?”
Recommendation: everyone has a unique journey to their next role. Here’s what I’ve seen other candidates do well to get past the overthinking:
-
First, dump every idea you can down on paper.
-
What I’ve found best is when candidates write things down before they begin their day of applications, prep, networking, calls, interviews and whatever else they have going on.
-
-
Second, diversify your day and activities.
-
If all you’re doing one day is interview prep and it’s making you anxious about the upcoming interview, send job applications for a half hour. This has the added bonus of potential new interviews incase something happens to the process you’re currently in.
-
-
Finally, read non-fiction books that are relevant to your search.
-
Pick a skill that you’re using (building relationships, telling stories, focused work, etc.) and read for 30 minutes before starting your prep.
-
Conclusion:
There are many ways to work past your overthinking issues. Above a few I’ve seen work but if you’ve got others , please respond to this email 🙂
Have a great day,
Adam
